Theological Education on Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit as an Unforgivable Sin for the GBI Trans Bali Congregation

Abstract

Understanding the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is often a theological issue that gives rise to fear, misunderstanding, and even spiritual anxiety among Christian congregations. In the digital age, the unfiltered flow of information has led many to accept partial interpretations of Matthew 12:31–32 and Mark 3:28–30. This Community Service (CSP) activity aims to provide sound theological education regarding the concept of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit as an unforgivable sin. The activity was held at the Indonesian Bethel Church (GBI) Trans Bali on April 13, 2026, through seminars, lectures, discussions, and a question-and-answer session. Participants, consisting of church members and youth, demonstrated high enthusiasm throughout the process. The results demonstrated an increased understanding of the theological significance of sin against the Holy Spirit and the importance of an open heart to the Holy Spirit's work in the lives of believers. This activity also demonstrated that a contextual theological education approach can help congregations understand doctrinal issues in a more sound and biblical manner. Thus, this CSP activity is a tangible contribution to strengthening the congregation's theological literacy amidst the development of the digital era.
